I cannot believe my dad is gonna deprive me of the time that I ought to have to myself on results day.

I have already told him countless of times that I want to do this alone. I am taking my results alone and facing/accepting it alone. I don't want to face friends or family with whatever grades I get because I believe those are MY results- and I need MY time to accept and process it ALONE.

Not to be stuck in a car with my parents going "So what are you going to do now?" Or "Don't you think you could have done much better if you started studying earlier?"

"What happened to you?"
Just thinking about it makes me so frustrated.

And damnit my dad went to take leave and said that he'll fetch me home once I get the results.

You have NO IDEA how pissed I am.
NO IDEA.

I know it sounds like such a trivial issue but I just want to do it alone okay?

Every single effing time I bring this up, dad thinks its funny to joke around but still makes it a point to state that he is DEFINITELY gonna be there to take me home from school.
It makes me so extremely frustrated that he can't understand me for something so simple and I feel so helpless it makes me wanna cry.

So its been more than a month since my birthday but I think this space needs some colours and more content so here it goes...

My 19th this year was more low-key.
Initially I wanted to stay home and watch my kdramas because I honestly didnt really care about my birthday this year but yea that didnt really happen...

On the 19th of January, YF, SS and SJ came over to my place and surprised me with lunch from Din Tai Fung- all my favourite dishes!!

Met * for abit and got a surprise bouquet- which I thought was really sweet. Thank you :)

Then later that evening, we headed to Vivocity's Carnivore for dinner with YL.
Carnivore is a meat buffet restaurant where the servers(is that what you call them??) will walk around the restaurant offering you free-flow of freshly grilled meat.

It was a fine experience and I dont eat meat that much so I cant judge but I thought it was pretty good!
The staff were attentive and we sat right outside the kitchen so the meat that was served was always freshly grilled. Some was a little too dry but generally it was really good.

Of course, you MUST try the caramelised pineapples.
They grill the pineapples and it was pretty much the best dish actually hahaha- kinda ironic since we're at a meat restaurant but really- its good!

And the best meat would have to be the beef rump. Please try it- I think thats probably one of the best meat I have ever eaten in my life. No joke.

Best side dish would have to be the cheesebread- available upon request. LOVE it!

Its about 60$ per pax but for the amount of meat you eat I would think its okay.

A couple of days after that, I went for a mini class clique gathering and had a little surprise birthday celebration along with Mai.

Idk- sometimes I dont feel like blogging at all because I feel so uninspired and that this space is so boring... I really dont have any 'spice' in my life right now since all I do is stay at home and read/watch dramas... SIGHHHHH

BTW-
I am this {---} close to getting hair extensions.
I dont hate short hair but I just really miss my long hair...

I mean....c'mon- look at these pictures.
You have to admit that even with a salmon in my mouth I look wayyy better in long hair.

Getting hair extensions for my current hair would probably set me back about 200$-300$ to make it look natural since its heavily layered (no amount of hokkien vulgarities is enough for Bugis Essensuals) but to be completely honest, i think im most concerned with how uncomfortable and tedious it'll be to maintain the extensions. & what if I spend that amount of money and I end up hating the extensions?!

Plus- I'm never gonna cut short again so I might as well just make my short hair work now isnt it?

DILEMMA!!

I'd choose a slow, painful death. At least I get to bid my goodbyes and all that stuff rather than just drop dead and leave EVERYTHING unaccounted...

2. Would you give up what makes you feel good about yourself for somebody you like?

I was talking to Angie about this lately and I realised- I'm not gonna give up using makeup for somebody who likes girls au naturel. I mean, if that's the kind of girl he likes then well, I'm not. Its not because I hate my bare face or anything- but I love using makeup. It's quite a joy for me when I apply all the products actually and I'm not gonna give it up just to please somebody else. Shouldn't he like me for what I am? If I'm a makeup addict then that's a fact that you gotta accept!

3. What on earth was I thinking when I got my haircut?????

4. Say real one, idk if people will buy my clothes cos all of you like to stay anonymous ARGHHHHHH

Thank you God for all the good and bad in my life- everything that happened in the past 19 years have made me who I am today.

I am not perfect but the people I have in my life have made me feel so fortunate to be myself.
They accept my flaws, guard me and love me for who I am.

Not many can meet such friends and family but at just 19, I dare say these people will be by my side for a very, very long time.

Thank you for all the good things- they’ve made me so happy and glad to be Rochelle.

& thank you for all the bad things as well- for it’s these times when I realised who are the ones who truly have my back and it’s these times that made me appreciate what I have/am today.

Life will always be strange and unpredictable- never constant and never stopping for anyone. But with them by my side, I know that come what may, I’ll never be fighting battles alone. :’)

New nails again

Did my nails again cos I was sick of the blob of purple crap on my galaxy nails.
Did gradiation nails this time.

Quite disappointed with how the jewels look- Awkward and ugly.
I should have just done the same design for all my fingers huh.

& the nail polish base colour (baby pink) was VERY hard to work with...

Nail Designs

Just did galaxy nails for myself.
Loved it initially UNTIL the nail polish colours started changing after I applied top coat...
It was looking like that:

And then after top coat... The white dots and pretty much the entire galaxy part turned purple.
Made me a little sad but im sticking with these nails until I find the mood to do other designs.

And another simple design that I had but forgot to post.
Did a couple of other designs actually but I didnt take any pictures.

Favourite hair stylist

Something I heard today made me very very happy...

Francis is back guys!! My favourite hair stylist who left his old salon almost 2 years ago and opened one of his own just recently!

Francis oh Francis you have no idea how much I went through and how much I missed you when you werent around.... I was always going "If only Francis was still working there..."

Very very happy when I heard it!
Will update with his contact and all once I hop by.

Apparently his new salon is at Kovan's Heartland Mall.
He's one of those heartland hair stylist and he's malaysian but trust me when I say he's better than any hair stylist that I've had at Bugis Essensuals/ Hair Inn/ supposedly top 50 stylist in SG that I've tried.

Francis is also the one who permed my hair really well back when I was younger. His perm was the best among the 3 perms that I've had and his perm very surprisingly lasted me for more than a year- almost 2 even and it didnt make my hair dry.

Yay Francis you'll never see this but Im so happy because of you!! ;)

P.S- I have edited my intro at the sidebar because I realised I really talk too much sometimes. And I've also added a link to my best friend Angie- show her some love, she deserves it all ;)

Im really bored and Im too lazy to edit the TW pictures so im just gonna rant and waste time.

Lately most of my friends have gotten attached/ already happily attached/ going out with someone and sometimes I cant help but feel a little lonely...

Not because I need a boyfriend to feel better about myself, but more like, I dont even have anybody to think of when im sad or lonely!

You know how sometimes when its late at night and you wanna talk to someone about life and all that stuff? Its a different feeling when you talk to your bf/gf as compared to talking to your best friend.

And if anything, all my best girlfriends are now attached!

Which then makes me feel just a tad bit upset because ALL SINGLES SHOULD HAVE SINGLE FRIENDS. It should be a law!!

Anyhow, I have this feeling that Im probably never gonna get married. Seriously! I know we're only 19 but sometimes we talk about marriage and plans for our future, etc and honestly? I dont think Im capable of loving anyone.

I find faults with everything.
You may be rich and cute, you might drive, you might be smart and charming, tall and buff and all that but guess what?
Im gonna pick on your nails, the way you carry yourself, the way you speak, the way you treat your family, your long hair(YUCKS- im sorry but up to this day I havent actually seen a guy who can pull off the long hair look.), probably just about anything.

Over the past 2 years Ive met quite afew guys that my friends thought we would look cute together but tada!! I have problems with every single one of them. Like he likes long hair or his curfew was earlier than mine or he is rude to his mom or he thinks gays are gross and shit. (I support LGBT btw.)

Then again, how do you actually like somebody so much until you are willing to commit to a relationship?
Im the kind who finds people who use 'love' as naive. Personally I feel that at 19, who the heck knows what is 'love'?
So many throw this word around frivolously... how can you love someone that you only know for 3months or something?
Thats not love. Thats infatuation. Or naivety- depends on how you look at it.

To a certain extent, I actually get very turned off when they use the L word on me. Unless you're so darn sure about it, that word means NOTHING if you're throwing it around to girls like that.

Stephen Hampton once blogged about this and I can TOTALLY relate to it(except number 1):

1. When a boy likes me I won't like him back until he doesn't like me anymore.
2. If I like a boy, I make up reasons to not like him. i.e - His socks were too dirty, his underwear was too gay, his fingernails were too long, etc.
3. If a boy isn't giving me the attention I want I start to like him more and more and then when he does give me attention I get over it immediately.
4. If a guy likes me and has NOTHING wrong with him I push him away.
5. I convince myself I don't want to date even if I really do.

Surely some of you have the same issue isnt it??

Of course, I also love being single.

I dont have to account to anybody for anything. I can talk to anybody and everybody. I can club without worrying if anybody's upset. Life's pretty good this way as well.

Shouldnt all girls feel independent and confident about themselves?
Sometimes I feel that some girls seem to need a guy to be the pillar of support in their lives.
Like they will crumble if they're single...
I actually find that pretty sad. Like, you dont even have control over your own happiness and you're letting your gf/bf dictate how you should feel. Thats not healthy at all.

Maybe I just havent felt that strong of a feeling towards someone to agree with those girls but right now thats really how I feel about them.
The handful of them la- not all girls in r/s are like that.

Also, dont you feel its a very amazing thing for two people to get together?
Like to be able to meet someone who likes you enough to want to be around you and protect, guard and care for you... And especially for you to feel the same way back.
I honestly feel that people tend to forget how difficult it is to meet someone they actually like and who likes them back- and they take it for granted and the whole relationship practically goes to waste...

Those nights

I dont club much at all but since Wednesday I've clubbed for 3 consecutive nights.

From Helipad to Rebel to Butter and Zouk.
Surprisingly all 3 nights turned out pretty good- the company, the crowd, the music and all.

I think its very important to go to these places with the right people. When the company sucks, everything else usually goes downhill.

And just a heads up- Thursday night was at Butter and they were having kpop night!
They have it every Thursday so everyone should give it a shot.
They didnt play solely kpop and if anything it was like 50-50 between english songs and kpop.
We/I kept requesting for Super Junior but they only played like ONE Suju song SIGHHHHHHH.

Anyhow, I have a huge and very painful bruise after last night and I've also discovered that im a hungry drunk PLUS I have difficulties sleeping after drinking. Im quite a strange nut huh.

Last night:

By evening my bruised chicken drumstick turned black...

Basically I'm just bored so yea just hopping by this space for abit.
My itunes on shuffle is playing all the tragic love songs about loss and heartbreak and Im not feeling good about it at all.

My kpop obsession

So im really bored and as much as I am very aimless right now- no job, no extra classes to attend, nothing at all, I feel slightly sad and idk.. perhaps a little annoyed and irritable?

I guess its because I have nothing to think about or do thats why im brooding over every little thing I read/ my friends say. (Read: Extra sensitive and overthinking everything.)

That and I am just swimming in an ocean of Super Junior fandom- which brings me to my next point that I wanna talk about.

There- My love for Super Junior and pretty much all my friends hating this phase im going through.

For about 2 months now I have been thinking/talking/dreaming/singing/every-possible-thing about Super Junior. I'm OBSESSED.
I watch their videos, shows, variety shows that they guest-star in, their MVs and stalk their Twitter accounts.
I may not know EVERYTHING about them- afterall its only been 2 months, but to be completely honest and serious- I actually Genuinely Love them. Like, every single member.

Many find my behavior- or any fangirl's behaviour, childish and stupid- like we cant grow up and we are chasing idols and all that stupid talk but the only reason anybody says so is only because they have NEVER actually liked an idol group.

Before I turned into this fangirl that I am, I was pretty much anti-kpop. Like many of you- I thought they're silly and to be brutally honest, stupid.
"For Christ's sake- they dont even understand what the song is about!!"- RIGHT??!
Or otherwise, the other classic...
"They're all plastic."

Yea, been there, done that.

But gradually, I gave kpop a chance. Started listening to Big Bang and SuJu, started falling in love with their songs. As much as I dont understand korean- I find myself trying hard to sing along or humming the tunes.
The turning point was when I watched Super Juníor's Exploration of The Human Body.
THAT completely changed me.
Since then, I've been a loyal ELF. ;) (ELF: Ever Lasting Friends- what the fangirls of SUJU call themselves.)

But yes- the point I am trying to put across- Get Over It damnit.
I am obsessed with SUJU and if you dont wanna join me, or dont wanna try to understand- JUST IGNORE LA!!! Whats so difficult!!!

I am not directing this at anybody in particular. Its just something I've been wanting to bring up.

Bugis Essensuals

I went to get my hair done on Monday at Bugis Essensuals by Wayne and once again, it was a fine experience but a really Bad haircut.

I have tried Wayne, Pauline and Derek(I think thats his name but im not too sure) and I didnt like Pauline's attitude/ Derek's skills and Wayne...

Okay to be honest, after the first cut it was fine. Ordinary and I didnt think much of it plus I was angry at my previous stylist who made a huge mistake with my fringe and didnt admit her fault so yea I went back to him for the second time. So the second time was when I decided to go shorter- the haircut I had just a day before I left for Australia. The layering was kinda awkward- like it wasnt gradual and was basically just pretty bad.

Then lately remember I was asking if I should go shorter? I was still considering if I should really go shorter and then my mom came along and asked me to accompany her for a haircut and I brought her to Bugis Essensuals- I have NO idea why I went back. I think back then I thought it was still fine?

Yea so last thursday I told him that I wanted about 2-3 inches shorter and a lot more layering... Now please scroll down to the Jan 14 entry titled "Super Show 4 SG"... Can you see a difference?!
When I told him that it looks as if I didnt cut and I wanted more layers, he went on and said he layered quite a bit for me already and he thinks I shouldnt cut shorter cos I wont get used to short hair.
So yea I left the salon feeling quite lame- like I wasted my time and money.

So the next day I booked another appointment on the upcoming Monday to 'fix' my hair.

On Monday, after I told him I want to go even shorter and really more layers so I can style my hair... I came home feeling like shit.

Okay if its because I am not used to the length then this would be a biased statement but NO. I am really VERY okay and even look forward to having short hair but seriously! The haircut is so bad!! The layering was downright HORRIBLE.
Its not 'soft'/gradual and it looks like I got my hair done by some trainee who used me as an experiment or something. I cant even pass this style off as having 'choppy layers' because its just really... tragic. And to top it off, mom and germs told me just yesterday that there's a very obvious 'hole' at the nape area. Like as if he snipped one bunch of hair too short.

From the front view I still look alright but the back view of my hair is atrocious!!

Im really upset with my hair now. I know plenty of bloggers have blogged good things about them so maybe its just my luck but I am never going back to them. Not for a haircut, not for a dye job(like how S paid $xxx for a dye job that was really nothing like what she asked for), not for anything.

Right now im in a dilemma- I dont know if I should go to another stylist(from another salon duh!!!) to fix my hair AGAIN or I should just leave it and let the hair grow out of this sad stage :( any comments? ;((

Also, this will be the last time-probably in my life that I will cut my hair this short.
I wanted short hair because I always wanted to try having my hair short and right now Im having the holidays so its the most appropriate time since I can grow it out if I dont like it! And yea after a week of short hair I am officially sick of it and wished I didnt make such a foolish decision right from the start :(
I miss my long luscious hair and messy buns very very much :(
Right now I feel so self conscious and unattractive :(

I dont have pictures but wait patiently cos im having dinner later this evening with the bunch and I'll get them to take a pic of my lousy haircut :(

Taiwan Day 2

Again, WARNING: THIS IS A LONG POST.

Read Taiwan Day 1 : HERE.

Day 2 was spent in Taichung. Taichung is an area up the mountains and its colder compared to Taipei. Personally I feel that the day at Taichung was the best time we had throughout the entire trip.

After Day 1's horrible countdown, we overslept and woke up about an hour later than expected so our plans were all pushed back for about an hour.

Straight after breakfast at the hotel(which was kinda bad), we took a cab to Taoyuan's HSR Station. Bought our tickets for Taichung(NT520) and we almost got lost in the station.

Behind me are the ticketing machines-there's instructions in english, no worries ;)

For those traveling via HSR, do note that there are 2 platforms for the stations- each on a different level. Something like our MRT interchange at Bishan/Dhoby etc. So especially if you're traveling with luggages, just approach any staff standing around and show them your ticket. They will direct you to the lift that you're supposed to take/instruct you on which direction you're heading. The station staff are really friendly and approachable so dont hesitate to ask them anything!
Trains are also pretty frequent, train intervals are probably some time around 20-30mins? Yep.

Spent our waiting time taking pictures:

If you look closely at the floor, you'll notice that there are orange lines and these are actually how you're supposed to queue before you enter the HSR/metro. The Taiwanese observe these train etiquettes really strictly so please do as well!
If only this exist in Singapore...it was so hassle-free and everyone was polite- no pushing whatsoever! LOVE IT.

Anyway it seems like its a tourist thing to take pictures with this Taoyuan sign hahaha.

Taiwan's HSR is very clean! There's also a pushcart lady who would come around and sell some light snacks and drinks.

And after approx 45 mins, we reached Taichung!!

For our time in Taichung, we actually already pre-hired a taxi driver/guide to bring us around and he settles our itinerary for the day. For 2 days in Taichung, we paid him NT9000(SGD$400) for 6 of us.

Pretty friendly guy and he was our driver/guide/photographer all in one. But I really hated almost all the pictures he took. He's inexperienced with handling a DSLR- I was using a D90, and so despite teaching him to hold the camera steady, click the shutter etc, a lot of the pictures turned out blur and out of focus. SJ was also annoyed with him because he kept trying to plant himself in our pictures hahaha what the hell right.

ANYWAY.
The first place he brought us to was Paper Dom.
Paper Dom is basically a place where they're famous for a particular paper building. This 'Church' is built entirely out of paper-or so they say.

Expectedly, it was a waste of time. Initially when I heard it was a 'Paper Church', I was expecting like some grand tourist hotspot with exquisite archi and all that but instead, I found THIS:

I didnt take a picture of the inside of the so-called church but it was a simple little space with hugeass rods as chairs and yea thats about it.

After Paper Dom, we got the guide to bring us to buy food stuff! Specifically Taiyangbing.

We bought plenty of food stuff and turns out that Taiyangbing is really not all that great... Instead, bought this pastry cake called 'Emperor Cake' for Angie. They also have lemon cheesecake, pork flakes, seaweed crackers, etc- all of them are worth the money! Best thing about it is that they offer delivery to our hotel in Taipei. Because the 6 of us bought quite abit of foodstuff, they had them all packed into a carton and delivered to the hotel that we will be staying in at Taipei- no delivery charges whatsoever.

Thereafter we proceeded to a wine brewery- another tourist hotspot but nothing interesting.

For our time at that brewery place, we walked through galleries of wine stuff and that was it. Yep.

& Finally! After the wine brewnery, we made our way to the highlight of the trip!

On our way there, we stopped by some roadside to take pictures-the scenary was beautiful.

Qing Jing Nong Cang! Aka QingJing Farmhouse.
This place supposedly rears sheeps so if you're in luck, you can see sheeps wandering around or something and you can even play with the sheeps! Sadly, we didnt see a single sheep during our time there :(

The scenary was absolutely beautiful. Air was fresh, place was clean, love it!

We also managed to catch the sunset. The sight was seriously breathtaking. Because we were wayyy above sea level, the sun was setting amidst thick fluffy clouds. It was one of those "this looks like something from a poster" kind of sight!

Anyway! We toured around the farm before it got dark.

After the place got dark, we went to this place called Carton King!
Its a shop selling paper products and light snacks. Nothing very fancy but if you like those little decors that you can make with paper then yea- your heaven.

And I bought one of those dried vegetable snack and I love the eco-bag! So cute right?

Our breakfast/lunch/dinner that day was negligible. Nothing worthy to be talked about so yea, left all that out.

At night, we settled back at our minsu.
For that night, we stayed at Dream Forest Villa and it was pretty cool.

The 'villa' we stayed in had 2 storeys and a balcony. Both floors had a queen size bed and the beds were heated- love it!
Only bad thing was that the lighting was the orangey kind and definitely not bright at all. I hate dimly lit places so I didnt really like it. That aside, it was spacious and clean. The bathroom was fine- like an average HDB toilet so yep.

I forgot to take pictures of the second floor and the only pictures I have of the inside of the villa are these so just make do with it oops..

That night was good because it was the only night that 6 of us were in the same room. We talked for hours and even went out in our PJs for a stroll(it was approx 6-8degree celcius at night)/late night chat.
Was the best night of the entire trip :)

As you can see, we didnt go to like 'fun-filled' places that day but we were all very happy and very enthusiastic so altho we didnt enjoy the places we went to, we really enjoyed the company.

Note: Temperature that day was between 7-10 degree celcius.

Day 3 will be another full post and Day 4 onwards will all be combined into one entry or something. & look forward to Day 3 cos there's S.N.O.W! In Taiwan!! Can you believe it!!

Young & Wild & Free: Taiwan Day 1

(WARNING: This is a HORRENDOUSLY LONG post.)

So its been almost 3 weeks since I got back from Taiwan!

All in all, it was a lovely experience! The weather was great, the people were friendly, the food was a-mazingggg but the shopping was meh. I assume its becos we went during their Winter season (Dec/Jan) so all that were available were coats and boots and all the winter-ish stuff.

I decided to be more specific about this trip because this trip was self-planned and while I was doing all the necessary research, such blog reviews were of great help so I kinda wanna return the favour/pay it forward and contribute as well.
So yea, hope it helps those who might chance upon this space when they plan their Taiwan trip.

We were quite flexible during the trip itself and there were a couple of places we didnt go so yea- we didnt follow the itinerary that strictly. Especially on transport expenses. We only took their metro (our MRT) and taxis so transport and food expenses were wayyy higher than expected.

6 of us went on this 7D7N holiday.

There's YL, me, SJ, SS, J & YF.

We reached around midnight and were quite disappointed to see that their arrival halls were pretty much completely under renovation or something... All covered with white boards :(

Took a cab straight to our hotel where we stayed at Novotel Taoyuan.
Pretty spacious, BRIGHT(yay!!) and VERY clean. The toilet was just as good!

And we played with the magic mirror abit hahaha. The window by the bathtub can be switched between opaque and transparent... kinky! ;)

On the following morning...

Was greeted by this sight:

If you look closely you can see aeroplanes on both the right and left sides of the picture!

For breakfast, we took a cab down to Taipei & went to eat Taiwan's famous Lu Rou Fan!!! (Cab from Taoyuan to Taipei was NT1000, ~SGD$44)

HEAVEN IN MY MOUTH! Its minced meat rice and its super delish!

The best part of this shop was that we just hopped onto the cab and asked the driver to bring us to a lu rou fan stall that the taiwanese people go to. We ended up there and in my opinion they serve the best lu rou fan that I've tried throughout the entire trip. Its such a pity that I forgot to take down the address/name of the shop.

You can try doing the same thing I did and ask the taxi driver/locals. This shop is about 10-15mins walk from Taipei Main Station and it supposedly has some decade long reputation or something.

To top it off- each bowl cost approx 80cents SGD. Heaven or heaven?!?

After brekkie, we walked towards Taipei Main Station for the famous underground metro malls~

On our way there we saw this:

It reads - Zhu Xue Gao : Pig's Blood Cake.

My first thought was :"Haiya come holiday might as well be daring and try all these snacks!" So I bought one and made some of them try it as well...

& I regretted.

It was disgusting!! I could feel my lu rou fan coming all the way up my throat!!

They first steam the cake and once somebody orders then they will coat it with crushed peanuts and parsley(I think) :

I dont quite know how to describe the taste becos some asshole of a friend(I forgot who) was beside me going "OMG CAN YOU IMAGINE THE PIG BLOOD IN YOUR MOUTH NOW? BLOOD!! YOU ARE DRINKING AN ANIMAL'S BLOOD MADE INTO CAKE!!"

So after that we reached Taipei Main Station and found ourselves walking through spaces like this:

We reached around 12noon and it was still quite sleepy, not much activities, not much people, not much shops even. Only around 2PM+ then the place started getting busy.
Honestly if you ask me, I wouldnt go there to shop. Its supposedly a huge underground mall (4 malls all interlinked actually) and they have cheap clothes and shoes and all that. Yea definitely. But the standard of their clothes is similar to clothes I would find at Lucky Plaza. Shoes...I think one can definitely find nicer ones at the basement of Far East Plaza. Maybe im prejudiced becos of the environment(refer to above pic) but personally I wouldnt go there again.

The only redeeming part was probably their departmental stores. If im not wrong they have a couple of departmental stores there. All of them are fine but they sell more upmarket stuff like VANS and Ed Hardy etc. It was also at one of those departmental store that Me and SJ managed to try 'Yofroyo'!

From what I read online, its a popular yogurt chain among the taiwanese. Again, just hop by your nearest YAMI/ frolicks- its the same thing.

From Taipei Main Station, we took the MRT to Zhongxiao Fuxing for SOGO departmental store!
(Do note that there are TWO SOGO stores there)

This is the SOGO store that you want to go for NARS!

For those who are unaware, NARS is a brand of cosmetics. Something like MAC.
This brand is not available in SG so if you want their products then you'll have to either order online or buy it overseas.
From what I know, the more popular countries that SGreans go to that carries NARS is Australia, Bangkok and Taiwan. Im not sure of Bkk's prices but between Taiwan and Aust, Taiwan sells them cheaper!

Nars is known for their blushers and I already have the hot favourite which I absolutely love to death- 'Orgasm'. So I got another one called 'Deep Throat' and a 'Gilda' for germs.

Orgasm is a really shimmery peach colour. Some call it a universal blusher(?)- which means it suits almost all skin tones. I love this but it is really a little too shimmery sometimes.

On the other hand, Deep Throat is slightly more subtle. Its also of a peachy shade-with shimmers as well, just not as intense as Orgasm. (haha stupid pun)

And for germs, Gilda is fine for her but too orangey for me. She's of a darker skin tone & she likes it without shimmers so yea, suits her I guess.

(All the colours that I posted are not exactly accurate- try searching online for the swatches if you're really interested.)

Like plenty of beauty bloggers, I highly recommend their range of blushers. For reference, Im a NC25 and both Orgasm and Deep Throat looks gorgeous on me. Its very pigmented and looks really natural. I love it! Definitely my go-to blusher now.

Available at Zhongxiao Fuxing's SOGO Departmental store. Blushers priced at NT1000 which is approx SGD$44 each.

Right! So after getting NARS, we asked around for directions to the Hello Kitty themed cafe!
Idk why but the moment I reached I thought of how Angie would love this place.

This Hello Kitty Sweets is within walking distance from SOGO. About a 10min walk or so.
Unfortunately, it was quite crowded when we reached and they turned us down the moment they heard that we didnt make any reservation :(
So for those who are thinking of going... Do make a reservation before turning up! (Ask the hotel concierge to do it for you if you can.)

We ended up just taking some miserable pictures outside just to show that we've at least been to the entrance hahaha.

Settled our lunch at some random restaurant down the street before heading over to Taipei 101 for the New Year Countdown 2012!!

Okay I MUST talk about this.

Taipei 101 is at the Taipei Cityhall Station. Once you leave the station, you can just follow the crowd and walk towards the 101 building.

On our way there, we saw plenty of street vendors selling balloons, scarfs, food, etc. Of course, silly SS couldnt resist getting her pooh balloon.

We reached the concert venue at around 5pm-6pm and we managed to get relatively good spots. We were within 100metres of the main stage so from where we stood, we can see little figures hopping around on the stage.

NO.

NOW NOW NOW... IF you're thinking of attending future Taipei101 Countdown concerts... PLEASE LOVE YOURSELF MORE, LOVE YOUR FRIENDS MORE AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

IT WAS WITHOUT DOUBT THE WORST COUNTDOWN OF MY LIFE.

First of all, that place gets more crowded by the minute. Apparently there were 800 000 people there for the countdown that day. For SGreans, you have NO IDEA EXACTLY HOW HORRIBLE IT FEELS TO BE SQUEEZING WITH 799 999 PEOPLE!!!! You spend the entire time squeezing and taking care of your belongings and nothing is quite worth going through that trauma. Not the concert, not even the fireworks.

Second, besides just squeezing, you have to stand for 7hours. STAND AND SQUEEZE FOR 7FREAKING HOURS. No room for you to stretch your stupid aching legs damnit!!

Third, the atmosphere of the concert is really bad. Unlike what you see on the TV, everybody in the crowd is just frustrated and angsty. Yea we heard Mayday perform live, sang along to some random songs, saw some other taiwanese celebrities and all that but as a whole, the concert was just bad.

Fourth, Show Luo was supposed to be there but he turned up SOLELY for the countdown. Like LITERALLY for the last 10 seconds!! Nothing else!! He didnt even perform a single song!!! SERIOUSLY!! I mean, im not a fan of his and I know nothing but his name but c'mon, I stood for 7hours. At least let me see an international celebrity perform damnit!!!

Finally, the fireworks at Taipei101 was beautiful but in my opinion, fireworks is just fireworks la. In SG we see them in the sky but at Taipei101 we see them coming out of the building. It is a different kind of experience and it was really beautiful but this still wont change my opinion regarding the countdown.
If any of you really wanna see the fireworks of Taipei101, I suggest you have your own little gathering at some nearby bar/cafe or even the roadside instead of wasting time and energy at the concert.

Yea. Point is : Please think VERY VERY carefully about attending their countdown concert :(

Taipei101/ Fireworks:

After squeezing through a HUGE crowd, we rushed towards a taxi we pre-booked and on our way there... we saw Free Hugs!

Only me and SJ took a pic tho. The rest were whining about their aching legs...

Another noteworthy info nugget: Its IMPOSSIBLE to get a cab after the countdown. You MUST pre-book your taxi. We booked the same driver who took us to Lu Rou Fan in the morning. For the 7 seater toyota wish, the trip back to our hotel from Taipei 101 was NT3000. Thats SGD$132. Granted, our hotel was in Taoyuan not Taipei, so its definitely already pricey but still, its SGD$132 on a stupid taxi ride after a traumatic experience. Words completely fail to describe how I felt that night.

For the second night, we stayed at Holiday Inn Express Taoyuan. We were extremely lucky to even get a hotel for that night because we only booked our hotels a week prior to our holiday and more than 20 hotels that we called were all fully booked. It was so bad we even considered roaming the streets for that night hahaha.

Fortunately, Holiday Inn Express Taoyuan turned out pretty good!
We got a twin sharing room and it was fairly spacious. Brightly lit and extremely clean as well. Toilet was a little small but not a problem.

Yep so that concludes Day 1 of our Taiwan trip.

I know this entry is ridiculously long and you are probably bored by now but well, at least I managed to hold your interest for a little while!
Upcoming entries about Taiwan wouldnt be as long tho cos the remaining days-especially towards the end was generally just us shopping so there's nothing interesting to blog about.

Hello all!

I've just finished packing my room and now I'm all tucked in bed feeling satisfied!

It's my birthday tomorrow but this year I feel quite ambivalent about it... To be completely honest, I actually wouldn't mind spending it at home with my kdramas...

Since coming back from Taiwan I've been spending most of my time in bed and feeling super lazy about heading out. I kinda feel like I'm wasting my holidays but then again, it's only during the holidays that you can literally sleep your days away without worries isn't it?

I was supposed to start Korean lessons and dance classes AND DRIVING CLASSES but none of that happened. Was supposed to work too but until today I haven't even collect any of the work clothes that I was supposed to get.
Instead? I'm learning Korean online- trying to at least, still procrastinating on looking for other jobs/ driving classes/ dance classes cos these classes require me to step out of the house and as you can tell, I am a hermit now and I am VERY unwilling to leave my bed :<

I also feel quite lousy about myself lately. The way I look, my hair, my body- basically just tired and grumpy all the time.

So... I queued overnight and I am gonna see Super Junior perform LIVE with Fion and Clarissa!!

We were among the first few in the queue and surprisingly there were only like 50+ people, going 80~ when the counters opened?

Maybe because today's the priority sale but still!!

Anyway I am wayyyy too lucky I'm afraid I'm jinxing other aspects of my life haha.

Yknow people infront of me(say about 5 of them?) couldn't get the moshpit /balcony/ terrace tickets at all!! Like all the tickets were supposedly either sold out or all individual seatings!

Even the first girl in line couldn't get her tickets and the security got kinda nasty and turned them away instead of letting them wait there for tickets to be available...
I kinda understand why the security would do that but I just feel really sad for the girls cos they all queued overnight and they started cursing and bursting into tears ;'(

AND THEN...
When it was my turn!! The counter staff immediately offered me moshpit tickets and I got them within 3mins??!

Like other girls had to beg and plead with the counter staff to let them wait for tickets to be available and all that but when it was my turn, I had the tickets almost immediately!

I was probably the first to even be offered moshpit tickets and the first to purchase them at the stadium's counter even tho I wasn't the first in the queue!

Haha the funny part was when F and C were outside of the queue and they saw the girls all brawling, they became really anxious and kinda sorta panicked...
Then the moment I got the tickets and waved it at them, they started crying and squealing hahaha! Aww that moment was MAGICAL!

Like everyone couldn't get tickets at all but here we are! Moshpit at our kinda-desired Pen!!

Which reminds me that I was also extremely lucky to get MAMA tickets then! Apparently quite a number couldn't get tickets at all but I still vividly remember on that very day I just woke up and JUST got to know what MAMA was about and decided to convenient hop by Bugis junction's sistic at almost 7PM and TADA! Best category for allocated seats!

To further prove how lucky I can get- especially beginner's luck...

And I won $70 for the first TOTO I bought after becoming legal- small win but a win nevertheless.

And how I beat a pro pool/billard player the very first time I played pool hahaha.

Just a short post because I wanna share about this product I got from Taiwan.

Tony Moly's Eggpore Blackhead Out Oil Gel and Silky Smooth Balm.

First of all, Tony Moly is a korean brand and their eggpore series as well as tomato whitening stuff is superrrrr popular. Their products are highly recommended by numerous beauty blogs and personally I am a new fan already ^^
They have 3 outlets in Singapore and you can google for the outlets- Im too lazy haha oops.

Blackhead Out Gell S$26.90

So the Blackhead Out Gel didnt produce any significant result after the first usage but after my third try... the results were clearly visible!
The gel goes on clear and you have to massage it for 3-5mins until it turns milky. TBH I cant be bothered to massage for so long so I usually just massage it for a minute, max 2 and tada- Improvement still visible! My blackheads have clearly improved and even my sister could tell the difference! (tho Im not sure if shes just trying to brush me off when I asked her la)

And the new addition to my makeup routine...

Silky Smooth Balm! S$32.90

Oh my.. I am so glad I chanced upon this product! When I first tried it.... "!!!" Then I tried it on SS, then SJ and we all ended up getting one for ourselves! Much later I tried it on a skeptical Y and tada- He went to get one for his cousin the following day!

This is actually kinda like a primer- it supposedly fills up your pores to give you a smooth canvas to apply your makeup. It is lemon scented and the scent is not too overwhelming. Above all else, I am just in awe of how smooth my skin becomes after applying it! I only use it on my nose tho because afterall this is a silicon based product so it'll clog your pores which is kinda counter productive but yea.
I really really LOVE this and this is so gonna be a permanent product that i'll stick to!

Okay im not a beauty blog or anything so this review/recommendation is pretty substandard, sorry! Basically Im just saying that these two products are worth the money. I didnt get the tanned egg which is another product of the same series but since these two works then I guess its worth a try if you want to ;)

P.S- Taiwan sells them much cheaper-I got both eggs at NT1000 = S$44!

Im back from Taiwan already!

Wont be blogging about TW just yet cos I havent reviewed the pics! Probably the end of this week or something.

Anyhow, the day after I touched down I attended B's OCS Social Night.

Throughout the night there was a birthday proposal, some kungfu performance, some singing and plenty of photo taking.
Made a couple of friends and I like making friends... Its weird to say it but I treat it as a training for myself so that I become more out-going and approachable. I cannot stress enough how important these traits would soon become- especially in university and for working life. Networks can get you far and get things done!

Met the bunch after Social Night for movie and supper. Miss my best friend *hugsss

And since this is actually my first post for 2012 (the entry before this was written pre-2012 so it doesnt count), I need to put it out there so that I am accountable to all of you... For 2012, I will eat healthy and exercise regularly and aim to lose a net weight of 6kg in 6 months. Will blog more about diet and exercise soonish!

One last thing.

& I am NOT even anywhere near being interested in anybody.
Those silly rumours need to stop.

Christmas 2011 & Cabaret Pink

This is a queued post and I wont be doing one for prom anymore since its all over FB anyway and I have nothing much to say about it that I havent already said.

I am now semi-jobless but before that I was occupied with the Cabaret Pink show at Orchard Central. Its kinda like a Christmas show where they perform christmas carols and all that and all I had to do was to help dress the cast. I loved the job cos its only a 3 hours thing and its only in the evening so that means I can still have the day AND night free!
So anyway it ended already since Christmas is over but I had fun and I really miss that bunch :(

Didnt exactly celebrate Christmas this year. Wanted to hit the clubs but decided to spend it eating at the cafe right outside Editors Market at Cineleisure. The mozarella cheesesticks were amazinggggg! Others were meh.

Counted down while having our orders taken which was kinda awkward... haha.

On Christmas itself I attended morning service at City Harvest with the girls and had a picture taken with Pastor Kong. Its supposedly quite a big deal to be able to talk to him in person or something so I happily planted myself next to him and had this picture taken hahaha

After a short trip to town, headed to the airport to send the Cabaret Pink cast off.

This year's send-off wasnt half as sad as last year where we all cried... Yep after that I headed home to change and even later in the night joined Angie and the rest for a trip to JB for supper and massage!

It was so funny during the massage!!
About 8 of us were in the same room and the girls and guys were separated by curtains so we could still hear each other. Throughout the massage I could hear them talking and at one point the masseuse went "Ready to have your back cracked?" and S went "YES YES YES!!" Hahahah what the hell.

Yea so that was my Christmas ;)

On other news...

I received a snail mail recently!

I know its not like an Eagles award or anything but it still makes me feel very good about myself! Like its been YEARS since I received anything for my academic results. The last time was probably P6? Kinda strange for me to receive the Good Progress one tho since my prelim results were really horrible...

Goodbye 2011

So another year has gone by already.

Unlike the past 18 years, 2012 will probably be the most uncertain point of my life. I have no idea what to expect for my Alevels results and what my future plans are.

All in all, 2011 has been downright horrible. But everything that happens- good or bad, is ultimately good isnt it? You need the bad days in order to cherish the good ones.
I guess 2011 is kinda like the reminder I needed that life isnt always a bed of roses and things wont always go my way.

In 2011, I...

- quarrelled with every single one of my close friends except 1.
- cried. A lot.
- let some people down.
- didnt enjoy dancing.
- wasnt a good friend to Angie in particular. Pretty much dropped off her radar for 5months?
- didnt save money (!!!!)
- Lost ezylink and condo access card

+ am still tight with all my close friends :)
+ glad and proud of germs to graduate.
+ Iphone and never turning back.
+ Good Progress Award!
+ holiday with friends for the first time.
+ Best Birthday E.v.e.r.
+ GRADUATED FROM JUNIOR COLLEGE !!!!
+ Lost 6 kilos- tho I have since gained 3kilos back... still happy!
+ all my loved ones are safe, happy and healthy.
+ grateful for all that I have.

In 2012 I just wish the best for my grades and that come what may, I will be able to pick myself up and ultimately be happy and content with whatever I decide to do. Also, I genuinely just want all my friends and family to be healthy, safe and happy. I dont think anything else can be more important than this.

January is gonna be an exciting month! Besides FINALLY starting on my practical driving lessons, Im also gonna start on my dance classes. Then it will also be my 19th and CNY!

Just to share this series that im currently watching on youtube - very annoying cos some eps are incomplete.. any idea where i can watch full episodes?

Anyway. This vid was supposed to be done in 8:55mins... I laughed so darn hard until I took AT LEAST 15 minutes to finish it!!
It was so funny I had to pause at multiple parts and laughed until I cried hahaha PLEASE WATCH IT.

Brisbane 2011

First of all, Im really sorry I have been neglecting this space.
Been too busy with work, friends and family. I like being busy anyway but today's the FIRST day that I actually have all to myself since I came back from OZ.

I really hope I have more of such days but the upcoming month is gonna keep me just as busy... But whatever la, it means im blessed with family and friends and as long as Im happy, everything else is secondary!

So the day after prom I headed to Brisbane with my parents to meet my sister, Germaine (AKA germs) for a holiday and mainly to attend her Graduation ceremony. She has now officially graduated with a Pharmacy degree and in a way it kinda makes me feel a little unsettled because while her future looks bright now...mine seems really bleak. Haha /forced smile...

The trip was fine- a little boring if anything. One-third of the time was spent driving/sleeping and it was quite a freak weather cos although it was supposed to be the peak of summer, the temperature was pretty chilly, around 20 degree celcius. Loved it anyway.

Visited some koalas and kangeroos, MovieWorld, saw the breath-taking sunrise, drove to Gold Coast, Surfer's Paradise,+++ and made my first visit to a casino.

Musings of a girl who loves her makeup

So I guess its pretty obvious I am the kind of girl who goes out in makeup about 98% of the time.

Besides school/a quick trip to the minimart down the street, I would definitely have concealor & foundation applied. If im meeting friends, then depending on where we intend to go, mascara and blusher as well. Generally I would have all 4 applied on my usual days and nowadays I have started using eyeshadow and lipstick.

Sometimes I feel judged because most of my friends dont use makeup and there are times when they go "you apply makeup for what??" or other times when I'm out and people(read: friends & acquaintances) see me and I CAN TELL from the way they look at me that they think I'm idk? Strange/overly vain because I'm in makeup?

In my defense:
1. Stop over reacting. Plenty of girls my age use heavy makeup all the time.
2. Seriously stop. Just stop.

But anyway, sometimes I feel that using all that makeup kinda hurts my self-esteem. When I get compliments, I genuinely-seriously feel that its only because of my makeup. Not only so, I feel extremely self-conscious when I have no makeup on. I get hate too- people say I only look presentable because of all the makeup.

Either way I am still too dependent on makeup to change my habits. If anything, I think I'm only gonna sink deeper into this whole affair of piling on the powder and colours on my face. Why not since ultimately it makes me feel better about myself?

I started using makeup since I was 14. Back then it was simply concealor and eyeliner. Idk if its a good or bad thing but ever since, I have generally been one of the few who would always help out in makeup for dance performances.
Honestly its kinda weird but I feel flattered that people trust me to do their makeup!! I mean, I wouldnt really trust people with my face unless they are professionals!

One thing about me though. I CAN ABSOLUTELY NOT STAND BADLY DRAWN EYELINERS. Like seriously cannot stand the uneven thickness or messy/too thick/too 'winged' lines. When I see friends with horrid eyeliner I have this overwhelming urge to fix it for them!

I dont know the point of this entry but let me carry on about the cosmetics I use!

I am no makeup guru but if you have a budding interest in makeup then you can try/avoid some of these! & also, I feel that cosmetics can be quite subjective. Like skin tones, skin conditions and all that can affect how the makeup will 'perform' which is why you can get reviews of 2 extremes for every product. And also because I am no makeup guru, my comments might not be THAT reliable sorry!
All listed in order of application.

1. Sunscreen- Avene Emulsion SPF50.
Available from Watsons.

Sunscreen is A MUST. Been dutifully applying sunscreen daily since I was 14! Sun damage is very bad for your skin and though it seems like a very redundant step, you WILL regret in the future if you choose to do away with it now. The general guide is one with minimum SPF30 for the face and the one I use has SPF50 so I know I'm pretty safe ;)
Price is a little steep but one tube(its a tube right?) goes a long way!
Its not a perfect sunscreen because I feel its a little sticky but its a small problem that can be easily fixed so yea, still acceptable!

2. Mattifying cream- The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream.
(approx 28$)

I have combination skin so I use this mattifying cream to fix the stickiness of my sunscreen and to control shine. Its rather highly raved and I find it does its job really well! My skin is noticeably less oily when I use this cream. Plus I love the smell of it!!

3. Concealor- MAC Studio Finish Concealor.

Hmm... Okay a concealor is a concealor. I dont know how to comment on this product. I just know i'm definitely sticking to this for quite awhile. Yep.

4. Foundation - Shiseido Maquillage Climax Moisture Gel.

Flawless finish when layered with the loose powder-almost as if airbrushed haha. But I find its very hard to spread and it doesnt last very long. Medium coverage. After a couple of hours it becomes a little cakey. Most probably not gonna buy it again but still good enough for me to use it for now.

5a. Loose Powder - Maybelline Pure Mineral Powder Foundation (for Day use)

I might have chosen the wrong shade because I feel it makes my skin a little dull. However this mineral powder gives me a very healthy glow in pictures. Like my skin is really glowing! Besides that, I wont buy this again since the dull part is a major flaw.

5b. Loose Powder- MAC Blot Powder

Am aware that this is not technically a powder foundation per se but it works just as well. I see this/MAC Studio Fix as my permanent powder foundation -unless a better one comes along that is. It has a light but buildable coverage which is perfect for me when I go out for suppers and when I want to look natural.

6. Eyeshadow Primer- MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study

I use this as a primer because its very light yet it makes the colours pop and appear more vibrant. I also noticed that with this as a base, my eyeshadow stays on longer. Honestly I never thought eyeshadow primers were important until I got this! Got it as a gift and am so grateful-a product I see myself staying faithful to for years to come ;)

7. Eyeshadow- Urban Decay Naked Palette

THIS PALETTE IS AMAZING.

I kinda stole this from my sister but wtv, she doesnt use it anyway! All the colours I need for day AND night are there and they are all very pigmented!*
This Naked palette is all over tumblr and highly sought after- I think mom rushed out of the house to Sephora the minute she heard there was stock and it was sold out the next day or something. There's also the Naked 2 palette that I am thinking of getting but I think that will be quite redundant since this is more than enough already.
Of my 8 days in Aust, I played around with the colours and had different outcomes every single day! love love love x x x x

8a. Eyeliner (main one) - Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner

Extremely precise because of the brush tip and very, very pigmented. I use this as my main eyeliner cos I have complete control over the thickness of my eyeliner and its fuss free! If I make any mistakes I can simply use a slightly damp cotton bud to gently fix it. Bad part is that because the tip is so fine, its a little tricky to draw on thick eyeliner. Also, it kinda flakes off abit after a long day but I love it all the same.

8b. Eyeliner (for lining lower lids) - The Body Shop Eye Definer in Carbon Brown

The smudgeproof part is bullshit. Sometimes I use this as a semi-eyeshadow. Like I apply it as an eyeliner then smudge it. Then I tried using it just to line the outter corners of my lower lids. Regardless, both ways ended up smudged. Havent found the time to get a better pencil eyeliner but the moment I get a new one, this will go straight to the bin.

8c. Eyeliner (occasional usage when I want to have thick lines) - Maybelline Gel Eyeliner

Very good product, goes on smooth and smudgeproof but takes awhile to dry and the brush they give is horrible. As much as I like it, I find it a hassle cos it comes in a pot and I have to always clean the brush after every use. Also because I have to draw it on with a brush, its hard to have a fine, thin line.

9a. Mascara - Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On

Hmmm. Okay this is a little hard to write on. Lets see...
Pros: Strong curling power and good volume. Buildable length. Does not clump at all. COMPLETELY SMUDGE & WATER PROOF- you can cry a river and it wont even budge!
Cons: So smudge and waterproof that it is so darn difficult to get off.

Yknow when I first got this mascara I actually had to sleep with it because none of the makeup removers I have at home can get this thing off my lashes!! I used removers for waterproof makeup and facial foams etc but this thing hardly budged! I finally ended up using Biore Eye and Lip Makeup Remover and it is only with this remover that the mascara comes off easier (NOT EASILY). So yea, very happy with this and has been my main eyeliner for awhile. Only hate it when I need to remove it, sigh.

9b. Mascara - Lancome Virtuose Precious Cells

LOVELOVELOVE. I think I am cursed with this though. I used to have this when I was 14 and it got misplaced by some dancers. Later when I was 17 another tube of this went missing during one of the dance performance as well and was later found in their makeup case. I really dont want to lose another one again :(
Excellent length and smudgeproof but volume wise... not so. Also, the brush is quite thick so its hard to use it on the lower lash. This is my main mascara now and will probably be so for a very,very long while.

9c. Mascara- DiorShow Mascara

Am never gonna spend a cent on this e.v.e.r. Smudged like crazy and although there was great length and volume, the smudge part was insane. Do not buy, please!!

10. Eyebrow pencil - The Face Shop Lovely Me Auto Eyebrow

Honestly I dont know how to tell between a good eyebrow pencil and a bad one. I just started drawing my brows anyway but generally I find this okay. Fades after awhile but not much of a problem since its easy to touch up on the brows.

11. Blusher - BeneFit Benetint

First off, this is very expensive and I really dislike the price part. If im not wrong, one bottle goes for around $60+... However! This blush is really worth the money. It works as a lip stain as well and either way it gives a very natural colour. I feel its able to achieve the rosy cheeks you get after a run.. yknow what I mean? Like a natural, healthy flush of colour on your cheeks! It also smells like roses which I love very very much. Bad thing is its easy to spill and sometimes when you apply too much...there's no turning back hahaha. It works exactly like a stain so the only way to save yourself from overly red cheeks is to pile on the foundation. Yep but still, great product!

12. Lipstick

Hmmm... for lipsticks, there's too many to talk about and each for different occasions and just really too many to talk about. Plus each brand has different ranges so the product might be slightly different.

-Generally I like Anna Sui's lipsticks cos of its scent and its not drying at all so it perfect for my dry lips.
-Revlon is also a-okay and the shades are woahhhhh.
-YSL... okay I guess? Not drying, highly pigmented but I hate hate hate the smell. Also, it is extremely creamy so its probably not so good for dry lips.
-Paul & Joe is the one that i'm currently using 80% of the time. I just got it and its the perfect lipstick. Rich colour and so easy to apply. Non drying as well. I got it from asos.com and I heard its no longer in SG? Not too sure but if its true then thats really depressing!
-Topshop. o.m.g. please do not not not not buy Topshop's lipsticks. So drying I dont even know how others can put up with that on their lips.
-Shu Uemura's lipsticks are good! Pretty much the same as Paul & Joe. Will most likely be my main brand choice of lipsticks along with Anna Sui.

Yep. So thats pretty much it! All the ones I use and some noteworthy ones-in both good and bad ways.

For makeup removal, I use both Biore Makeup Remover for Eye and Lips as well as Daiso Makeup Remover Wet Tissues hahaha. I love the Daiso ones because its only 2$ so I dont feel heartpain using them! Plus I use facial wash after removing my makeup so I dont see why I should spend on quality makeup removals. Everyone should get them! 2$ and does its job- removes my lancome mascara with a couple of wipes!

TPJC Prom 1

So here I am, all tucked in bed and having the mother of headaches. Prom went fine although truth be told, I was pretty upset that a couple of my friends werent nominated for Prom King/Queen... Like I was so excited for them to be called upon because I was kinda-sorta campaigning for them during the voting period hahaha.
Apparently all the nominees were the ones who were voted for Mr/Miss Personality so yep!

Had a bad headache throughout the whole night and I really didnt like my makeup and ESPECIALLY my hair. Sigh. Nothing went well for me for the night. Went Zirca after prom and met plenty of schoolmates there but didnt hang around much cos the crowd/music was Horrible with a capital H. And time in Zirca wasnt good either.

Worse was getting hit on by some 30++ year old guy at the lobby of my condo. 1. Why the heck is he allowed in when he's not a resident? 2. Where the hell is the guard? 3. Why the hell did he even try?? Im half his age damnit!! Did I look THAT old?!?! So insulted!!

Just a small sneak peak! Havent edited the pictures and all. BTW the lighting at Swissotel was HORRIBLE. Took plenty of pictures with others and I really hope they turn out ok and wont upload the bad ones!! Hate it when sometimes people like to upload the obviously bad-looking ones-for what?? I would not embarrass others like that lor. I usually delete the ones where others look weird unless they're funny.

Pre-prom jitters

Tomorrow is TPJC's Prom Night and im feeling the jitters already. Feeling quite ambivalent about it actually. I would love to see all my friends all dressed up and have a nice night together but yet its like judgement day of some sort.

Get what I mean? Like the bitchiness in everybody unleashes! Then again, I prefer going with "who the hell cares what you wear and even if they do, it really doesnt matter"!

I spent quite a bit on all my Prom shopping and Im feeling a little upset with myself for not setting a budget in the first place. That money can be better spent elsewhere argh.

Anyway I've been sick for almost a week. Its weird cos the fever/headache only comes when im home. I really hope i'll be fine for prom!

One last thing- Pretty shameless of me but I really update my tumblr-blog more frequently so you can head there if this space is dead/you're bored and have nothing to do.

To save money and because I overslept when C and S went to do their nails...
I did full mani and pedi for myself! Complete with cuticle maintenance and buffing! Probably saved myself around 70$? /yay

And this is my backup that I wanted to get if the alteration of the actual dress screws up. I LOVE THIS FORMAL ROMPER but NO ONE supported me to buy it! Everybody said it was inappropriate for prom... really meh!! I love it more than my actual dress but I didnt want to spend anymore.

Went for the Mnet Asia Music Awards on Tuesday, 29th November.
Its been 2 days and I am STILL recovering from the shock that I actually got to see so many of them perform LIVE! Never mind that BigBang wasnt there!

It was really, REALLY, AMAZING. The atmosphere, the performance, EVERYTHING. Nothing-and I mean NOTHING beats watching all of them perform live! And I was like, 10metres away from Siwon of Super Junior when he sat among the crowd during the "ARREST" part!! He's my new love!

I have already decided to go for SUJU's performance on 17 Feb 2012. I dont care if I need to queue for 2 nights to get to the front row of the moshpit- I SWEAR I WILL QUEUE NO MATTER HOW LONG IT'LL TAKE ME!! Im not even exaggerating when I say I can start crying when I think of how amazing MAMA was.

Next year I'll find a way to attend SNSD, SUJU and BIGBANG's concert! And possibly BOYFRIEND's too! Oh and SNSD's performance was brilliant! The whole stadium went gaga and watching them perform live is NOTHING like what you see on youtube fancams and TV etc!

ANDANDAND I got an unexpected surprise when I saw Kim Sung Soo from Full House and Song Seung Heon from My Princess! They were the presenters and when I saw both of them I got dizzy with excitement /faints!!

Oh and idk if you can tell from the pictures but the moshpit was quite empty... Like im sure they can fit AT LEAST 200 more people! and there was one section of seats where there were PLENTY of empty spaces! It looks so bad... Like as if the tickets were not sold out or something. And seriously the three-quarter filled moshpit just makes my blood boil argh.

& I also only took vids of SNSD's and Super Junior's performance. My hands werent steady though but I tried at least! SNSD's vid is of the entire performance while SUJU's one is only of Sorry Sorry.

Revamped this space so its easier to navigate although it LOOKS a little more complicated. Deleted most of my old entries and added 'labels' for the ones that are still around.

Yep so regarding questions both on this space and tumblr... I welcome all comments/questions and I actually check for them everyday. It makes me really glad to know that people bother about these sites and I feel like... I have a purpose in blogging/tumblring!!
HOWEVER, 1. I will NOT hesitate to delete any unkind/ malicious comments or any that I find inappropriate and 2. I am no health/ cosmetics/ diet/ exercise guru so I might not always give the best answers. I would definitely love to help but everybody's habits/ opinion/ method/ body/ etc is different so what is best for me might not be good for you.

I have also made my twitter public- I dont know how long it'll stay public tho.

It all happened so quickly... Like I was on the bus to Bugis and saw tweets about the MAMA2011SG then sent a text to Clar and before I know it I was queuing at the Sistic counter!

Gonna confess- I know absolutely nothing about Kpop and I don't deserve to get these tickets but I got them anyway!

I got to sistic late so I didn't manage to get the best seats. Plus the mosh pit would probably squash me anyway considering how crazy some of the fan girls can get...

Hi guys I'm gonna shamelessly state that I love perfumes A LOT and if you're a friend of mine and you wanna be nice then I would love to receive perfumes as gifts hehehe! (or cosmetics actually, or gift cards or ....)

For the record, I love sweet, floral, fruity scents- my signature scent would probably be Ferragamo's Incanto- Charms then Anna Sui's Flight of Fancy.

I have a ultimate favorite perfume but I am not gonna announce it here cos it's quite a rare perfume and i want it to remain that way heh! The scent reminds me of rainbows and candies, SERIOUSLY. Cotton candy especially!!

My next one I wanna get is Britney Spears' Radiance and Ralph Lauren's Ralph. Also looking forward to Lancôme's Tresor Midnight Rose that D talked about!

Speaking of Ralph, I remember I got it as a gift a couple of years back but my mom threw it away when she was packing my collection- until today I get annoyed whenever I think about it!! And she threw away my DKNY Green apple too ;"""(

And I just got YSL's Parisienne that scored pretty good reviews but after a couple of sprays I just got REALLY sick of it-too matured for my liking and the scent reminds me of deodorant...

I am being shameless and possibly rude here but seriously I can never understand the point of buying gifts that the recipient won't use. I AM ALL FOR PRACTICAL GIFTS!!!
Or cards. I love receiving cards-only good friends actually bother writing cards with a sweet note so yep I think gifts show how they value the relationship? Not necessarily the price of the gift but haiya you get the point.

Im very happy that people are actually interested in what i'm eating!

Usually my friends would just like.. "meh" me cos its weird food choice compared to the usual.

I wouldnt call this a diet actually. Diet is a short-term thing and im very sure all the weight loss will come back in time to come. I feel if you want to lose weight then its more of a lifestyle thing.

Of course I am not the best example. Once in awhile I will give in to something that I crave for... like the amazing tako balls besides koi at Iluma (MUST TRY!!), pizzahut(my fav) or wanton mee at school... but at least when I have all that food I would try my best to make it less unhealthy? Like my wanton mee portion is pretty pathetic. Somewhere around 1/3 of the usual portion and the aunty would always "you sure??" me hahaha. Or I would share my pizza with someone and only eat 1-2 slices and then silently promise myself that Im gonna eat healthy for the next 2 days.

Seriously dont starve yourself cause you'll just end up binge eating. Been there, done that.

I love food but I hate it when I knowingly eat something that I shouldnt and then after each bite there's this horrible amount of self-loathe... Sometimes I get it to shut up but most times I end up eating only half my meal.
& this is not the anorexic voice!! It only happens when I eat stuff like Macs or Nasi Lemak...

To be completely honest, I've never been exactly happy with my weight. So since I was fourteen I have been visiting thinspo sites, looking up diet plans, plenty of yo-yo diets... Most people think that anorexic people are stupid and dumb and all that but I feel that these people are actually very strong-willed...
Do you know how much self-discipline you need to stop eating all that food?? Or push yourself to go through all that exercise??

(I certainly dont encourage or approve of anorexia/bulimia. I know people die and its an eating disorder so ya- need to be clear on this.)

Anyway point is. Your best bet is to change your lifestyle instead of 'dieting'. Embrace your greens!!! When I was younger, I only eat kangkong, long beans and broccoli. Gradually, I FORCED myself to eat more veggies and now Im really quite a veggie person. I really FORCED myself to like it. I would even call it an acquired taste haha. Right now the only veg I DONT take is bitter gourd, celery and carrots. (Parsley too if its even counted)Im gradually trying to eat bitter gourd now but still!! HATE THEM TO NO END.

Exercise wise, I love jogging so ya, that explains everything. I am not gonna claim to be a exercise-lover cos I only started jogging regularly for around 2-3 months and Ive stopped since August cos I was being lazy and now I just cant spare that kind of time anymore. It was really quite difficult to commit. It was either too early, too late, too warm, im too tired or my contacts were too dry (haha seriously). So yea when I started I was doing just ONE round around the estate. Gradually I PUSHED myself to do 2.. then 3... and within 3 weeks I was doing 5 rounds. There were a couple of times I was feeling frustrated over school/people/etc and I jogged even more. My record was 8rounds. Thinking back, I really have no idea how I managed to do that!! (One round is approx 1km) During those months I was jogging around 2-4 times a week.

When I feel that I still have the strength to do more then I'll usually do 3-5 sets of lunges, sit ups, crunches and push ups.

And of course during some really rare times then I'll go for a swim. But I actually think swimming is quite useless. Apparently its supposed to be better than jogging cos all your muscles are working and its the 'best' exercise among all but personally i feel that when im in the pool, I just want to relax and float around hahaha.

I know now the biggest question is how much weight Ive lost :(
Im still uncomfortable to share about my weight publicly so I'm just gonna say I lost 3-4 kilos since July.
I know it really isnt a lot and in fact its pretty pathetic... but seriously!! I wasnt plump to begin with(hehehe self praise) and I am really very muscular(just look at my calves damnit-hate them) so Im still very glad? And even if I didnt lose weight, I would still continue to make all these little changes in my life because it makes me feel good about myself. I feel healthier, more energetic, less pms-sy. Yep!

But again, my BMI used to be 17.7 when I was 15/16. Underweight but I wasnt 'skinny'. At my heaviest I shot up to 21.1... It was a dark, dark period of my life. Now im 19.4! Of course I would love to go back to 17.7 because I didnt grow vertically since 16 which means that all the weight I put on since 16 is completely unjustified! But if I dont manage to then yea, its fine I guess. (trust me, i really put on a lot of weight since entering JC)

Inches wise... I lost an inch off my thighs and arms.

Yep so make little changes here and there...Like opt for wholegrain instead of white bread. Water instead of iced lemon tea, always practice restrain by leaving a small portion of your food untouched(like dont finish the entire meal), leave out ketchup/chili/mayo cos its unnecessary calories, leave out salt-main cause of flabs, eat many small meals instead of a few huge ones, always keep snack bars or wholegrain rice cakes handy so you can snack on instead of binge eating on junk food, drink water first before eating.

Yea all these changes. You can google them-there's plenty online.

If this entry is offensive to you, I need to say that as long as I am happy and I know where to draw the line, I FEEL that adopting some pro-ana habits to lose weight is fine. You can disagree with me but you should respect my opinion/decision.

And technically I am losing it the healthy way isnt it??

Back in the days when I was always fasting/strict restraining, I certainly lost weight. Also somewhere around 3-4kilos BUT BUT BUT THEY CAME BACK RIGHT AFTER I STARTED EATING!! If anything I even put on more weight!! Whereas now since changing my lifestyle, eating small portions of food I crave instead of abandoning them entirely, my weight loss is more permanent? As in, I wont gain the weight back even if I have normal meals. Maybe it'll fluctuate for a kilo but otherwise its relatively permanent. So yea, extreme dieting/desperate measures REALLY DONT WORK.

Also, honestly it took me A LOT of courage to get this entry done becos I am really not proud of my body/weight. I mean... Ya la im happy/okay but I feel that Im still on the chubby side and its not easy to talk about such stuff on a space like this cos you never know how people will think/judge. And... it is definitely not easy to talk about my body image issues so publicly even tho it is something of the past. So yea.. please be gentle with me with your comments if any :/

My meals on weekends:

Salad. Caesar Dressing.

Scrambled eggs. PB toast.

Scrambled tofu.

Usually have them with plain water/lemon water/ tea/ low fat milk.

And this is the hardest part to post...
1st pic was during my Prom in 2009. Then I was around BMI 17.7.
The next 2 was early this year when I was at my heaviest.

Ya it is really really tough for me to openly put up such 'comparison' pictures but I guess by having it up then you'll understand why I want to shed off the extra weight.

AND I HAVE LOST WEIGHT SINCE THEN SO I AM SMALLER NOW!!!!!

I'm a proud healthjunkie!

I LOVE my veggies, salads, love snacking on cherry tomatoes rather than chips, I like red meat but I'm starting to stay away from it since watching earthlings' vid, I no longer eat fried chicken skin, I stay away as much as I can from sweetened drinks, I usually drink water/ chinese tea/ fruit juice with no added sugar, I like jogging and used to jog like 5km thrice a week (can't spare that kind of time now), I eat wholemeal bread and hardly eat rice at all...

It's been like, 3 weeks since I had any sweetened drinks! Besides red bull that is.

I miss eating normal but I always feel like shit after so yep, not gonna do that!

I really wanna recommend all to start drinking lemon water instead of plain water. Just add a slice of lemon to your plain water and tada, healthier way of living! I've been drinking lemon water every single day and recently I just stopped adding extra sugar and salt/soy sauce to my food. Its like now I just prefer the less sugar/salt version of food after I started drinking lemon water.

Might be a psychological effect but if it's healthy then I'm all for it!

Here it goes:

"Everyone in the apartment complex I lived in knew who Ugly was. Ugly was the resident tomcat.
Ugly loved three things in this world: fighting, eating garbage, and shall we say, love. The combination of these things combined with a life spent outside had their effect on Ugly.

To start with, he had only one eye, and where the other should have been was a gaping hole. He was also missing his ear on the same side, his left foot has appeared to have been badly broken at one time, and had healed at an unnatural angle, making him look like he was always turning the corner. His tail has long since been lost, leaving only the smallest stub, which he would constantly jerk and twitch. Ugly would have been a dark gray tabby striped-type, except for the sores covering his head, neck, even his shoulders with thick, yellowing scabs.

Every time someone saw Ugly there was the same reaction. “That’s one UGLY cat!!”
All the children were warned not to touch him, the adults threw rocks at him, hosed him down, squirted him when he tried to come in their homes, or shut his paws in the door when he would not leave.

Ugly always had the same reaction. If you turned the hose on him, he would stand there, getting soaked until you gave up and quit. If you threw things at him, he would curl his lanky body around feet in forgiveness. Whenever he spied children, he would come running meowing frantically and bump his head against their hands, begging for their love. If you ever picked him up he would immediately begin suckling on your shirt, earrings, whatever he could find.

One day Ugly shared his love with the neighbors huskies. They did not respond kindly, and Ugly was badly mauled. From my apartment I could hear his screams, and I tried to rush to his aid. By the time I got to where he was laying, it was apparent Ugly’s sad life was almost at an end.

Ugly lay in a wet circle, his back legs and lower back twisted grossly out of shape, a gaping tear in the white strip of fur that ran down his front. As I picked him up and tried to carry him home I could hear him wheezing and gasping, and could feel him struggling.

I must be hurting him terribly I thought.

Then I felt a familiar tugging, sucking sensation on my ear - Ugly, in so much pain, suffering and obviously dying was trying to suckle my ear. I pulled him closer to me, and he bumped the palm of my hand with his head, then he turned his one golden eye towards me, and I could hear the distinct sound of purring. Even in the greatest pain, that ugly battled-scarred cat was asking only for a little affection, perhaps some compassion.

At that moment I thought Ugly was the most beautiful, loving creature I had ever seen. Never once did he try to bite or scratch me, or even try to get away from me, or struggle in any way. Ugly just looked up at me completely trusting in me to relieve his pain.

Ugly died in my arms before I could get inside, but I sat and held him for a long time afterwards, thinking about how one scarred, deformed little stray could so alter my opinion about what it means to have true pureness of spirit, to love so totally and truly. Ugly taught me more about giving and compassion than a thousand books, lectures, or talk show specials ever could, and for that I will always be thankful. He had been scarred on the outside, but I was scarred on the inside, and it was time for me to move on and learn to love truly and deeply. To give my total to those I cared for.

Many people want to be richer, more successful, well liked, beautiful, but for me, I will always try to be Ugly."

-apparently it was a pretty grand event cos there were a lot of media people around and some people actually specially flew into SG to catch this marathon!
It was well-organised and I REALLY LOVED the crowd. Before the start of every show, the audience will cheer and all of us laugh/cry at the same scenes. You really feel as if the whole theatre is filled with HP fans and it was the best $88 that I've spent!

I went to watch Harry Potter the second time and the crowd was YUKS. Really. It was as if none of them understood what was going on or something or otherwise they were all asleep. It was horrible!!
